I am sorry, but the title of this case report is misleading. With a one month history of rest pain this is not truly a case of "acute aortic occlusion."
Acute aortic occlusions are true vascular emergencies, and such patients present with signs and symptoms of acute arterial ischemia, not with a month of rest pain.
Please review the classic paper written by the Henry Ford Hospital Vascular Surgery group: Acute Aortic Occlusion: A 40-Year Experience. It amazes me how soon the teachings of some of the founding fathers of the discipline of vascular surgery are forgotten.
